Stu is a litigation-focused attorney with long experience in a broad range of general commercial and personal matters.
For several decades, Stu’s practice has centered on issues related to electrical distribution and transmission systems and their operating entities. His work has allowed him to become familiar with technical aspects of system operation, design, and maintenance infrastructure through extensive work with industry engineers and technical personnel.
He has regularly been lead counsel in stray voltage cases on behalf of investor-owned utilities and electric cooperatives involving claims of injury to agricultural operations including dairy, swine, and poultry. He has been involved in scores of stray voltage matters across the country ranging from initial claim evaluation and response to multiweek jury trials. This work involves extensive discovery and data analysis of complex, expert-focused issues of veterinary medicine, electrical engineering, and agricultural economics. He has enjoyed regular collaboration with counsel outside Wisconsin in both support and lead roles in matters of this kind.
His practice has also included litigation and consultation on a range of more general electric system liability, risk management, and operational issues including rights of way, fuel procurement and transportation, distributed generation, fires, accidents, metering system acquisition and implementation, and other operational and liability matters.
