USPTO Extends Deadlines for Small and Micro Entities
05.28.20
On May 27, 2020 the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) extended patent deadlines for small and micro entities to July 1, 2020.
Under the prior CARES Act Notice, dated April 28, 2020, patent filings would have been deemed timely filed if completed by June 1, 2020. Under the new Notice, filings for deadlines falling on or after March 27, 2020 which are made by small and micro entities will now be deemed to have been timely filed up if filed by July 1, 2020.
This extension does not apply to large entities. After May 31, 2020, large entities would need to seek relief through the filing of a petition for an extension of time or petition to revive accompanied by any required fee.
The current trademark filing deadline also remains unchanged, June 1, 2020.
